3, 2, 1… action!

Gran Hermano zeppelin

If we had the ability to transport ourselves and materialise in any room in any era, we would know at exactly which moment in history we were simply by focusing on the décor.

Beyond dream houses, hotel rooms and trendy restaurants, the interior designer plays a very important role in television. The most popular shows and series work hard to create atmospheres that envelop the characters and draw in the viewer.

This capacity for perception plays a role in both movies and television. The recreation of spaces makes the viewer feel like part of the action. Precise control of the entire creative aspect of sets, like the colours, photography, wardrobe and, above all, the décor is crucial for achieving good ratings.

Every colour counts and this is what characterises a good set. Both the director and the cinematographer understand this, and it is the first thing they communicate to the set designer  a professional who becomes an art director when preparing the sets before the clapper sounds.

Bathco products dress up in their finest to jump, once again, to the small screen. They already did so in 2014 on Pablo Motos’s show, El Hormiguero, and we’ve already told you that in 2016 they were in the most viewed house on Spanish television, that of Gran Hermano 17, and that they are still around in the Gran Hermano Vip edition.

The main bathroom of the house is characterised by a mix of styles and materials; tiles coexist with wood and wallpaper in a very wide range of colours. Vibrant colours like red and yellow are combined with the sobriety and elegance of the Solid Surface white Barros washbasins.

iFamily
Serie iFamilyIn 2017 the iFamilia series will première, a family situation comedy that revolves around the life of two brothers with an unresolved past in a tone where laughter coexists with the emotions everyday situations give rise to.

In September, RTVE started filming the new comedy produced in collaboration with Programas y TV (Juan Alexander) and written by José Luis Acosta and directed by Rafa Montesinos. Well-known actors like Antonio Resines and Fernando Cayo will share the set with the Yin Yang washbasin, the Ronda lavatory and bidet, as well as countertops, faucets and other Bathco accessories.

Mercedes Canales, a renowned art director and decorator in the world of television, was in charge of creating the spaces in this series. We focused on the bathrooms, which combine pastel tones and different shades of grey with hydraulic tiles.

Filming wrapped up on 4 January and featured exteriors shot in the Community of Madrid and over 2,000 square metres of set built for the show to recreate the family’s everyday scenarios. It will be premièring soon as one of the most promising series of the season, so watch out for it.
