Barack Obama<\/em>\u00ab.<\/p>\n<p>With this letter, dated June 17 in Washington, President Barack Obama thanked Jes\u00fas Ferreiro, president of the Titanic Foundation, for sending the first replica made of one of the sinks from the \u00abship of dreams\u00bb that sank in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean 104 years ago, when it was heading to the port of New York with 2,207 people on board, of whom only 712 managed to arrive.<\/p>\n<p>As can be seen in the attached photograph, only President Obama's signature has been added to the original sink.<\/p>\n<p>The company selected by the Titanic Foundation for this replica is Bathco, located in Cantabria and one of the most important and prestigious in the world in this specialty. Its CEO, Jos\u00e9 L\u00f3pez Cort\u00e9s, stated that, although they are proud of the work done, they almost gave up due to the enormous difficulties encountered in adapting a sink made 104 years ago to current drainage systems.
