The exhibition \u201cTitanic: The Reconstruction,\u201d which commemorates the history of this vessel, its passengers, and its sinking, and features the largest reconstruction of the ship ever made, is coming to the Porticada square in Santander, where it can be visited from tomorrow until November 12th.<\/p>\n
The Mayoress of Santander, Gema Igual, visited the exhibition today with the President of the Titanic Foundation, Jes\u00fas Ferreiro; the General Director of Bathco, Jos\u00e9 L\u00f3pez Cort\u00e9s; and the President of the Enrique Gran Foundation, Bego\u00f1a Merino Gran, and participated in its symbolic \u201claunch,\u201d which was done with a bottle of Henri Abel\u00e9, the same brand of champagne that was served at the luxury restaurant Le Parisien, which was on board the ship.<\/p>\n
He also highlighted that it is one of the events that kicks off the Pilar long weekend, during which the city of Santander \u201cwill be full,\u201d and he encouraged people to visit the exhibition \u201cfor the curious things it contains and for the story that needs to be told, especially to the little ones, who need to learn what happened on the Titanic.\u201d.<\/p>\n
The dual connection between the exhibition and the city of Santander has also been mentioned. This is because the painting \u201cThe Dream of the Titanic\u201d by Enrique Gran, along with replicas of the first and second-class bathrooms by the company Bathco, are on display. These replicas include furniture, sinks, faucets, bathrobes, and towels, and are the result of meticulous documentation and research to achieve the most faithful reproduction possible of the ship's original bathrooms.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything in the exhibition are tools that help us tell the stories of those who traveled on the Titanic,\u201d explained Jes\u00fas Ferreiro, who revealed that a replica of a second-class sink will be raffled among all visitors.<\/p>\n
The CEO of Bathco, who described the laborious process involved in creating the replicas of the Titanic's bathroom sinks and other elements, opined that the fact that \u201cSantander has this magnificent exhibition is a dream come true\u201d and predicted that it will be \u201ca great success.\u201d.<\/p>\n
The exhibition \u201cTitanic. The Reconstruction\u201d features a 1:30 scale, 12-meter-long reconstruction, the largest ever built. It is open on one side, allowing visitors to observe the various rooms: the boiler room, lounges, the grand staircase, the cabins...<\/p>\n
Two other important objects that connect the city of Santander with the Titanic are the original painting \u201cThe Dream of the Titanic\u201d by Enrique Gran, and the official replica of the first and second-class bathrooms. These reproductions include furniture, sinks, faucets, bathrobes, and towels, all reproduced by the Santander-based company, Bathco.<\/p>\n
Also noteworthy is the \u201coriginal Titanic car,\u201d a Brush D24, manufactured in Detroit (USA) in the same month and year as the ship's construction, 1909, and considered the oldest car in the world that can still run.<\/p>\n
The visit to the exhibition is made with the help of an individual sound system, in the language chosen by each visitor, and lasts for one and a half hours, beginning with the viewing of a documentary produced by the Titanic Foundation.<\/p>\n
It will be open every day from 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM.<\/p>\n
Ticket prices range from 4 to 10 euros, including the use of an audio guide in the language chosen by each visitor.<\/p>\n
Children under 6 years old will have free admission.<\/p>\n
