A fisherman’s house between the sea and design

In the picturesque coastal town of Colònia de Sant Jordi, Mallorca, Catalina Socias, an interior designer by vocation, has carried out a comprehensive renovation that redefines the essence of one of the oldest fishermen’s houses in the region. This project, full of authenticity and love for design, seeks not only to preserve the island identity, but also to establish a deep contact with the environment, the majestic Mediterranean Sea.

The beach apartment in Colònia de Sant Jordi becomes a reflection of the Hamptons style, where white and blue emerge as the main colors in this story of renovation. Catalina Socias has managed to capture the luminosity and freshness of the Mediterranean through large windows that allow natural light to flood every corner of the house. The choice of natural woods in the furniture reinforces the connection with nature, while unique vintage pieces, imported from Paris, bring a unique personality to the project.

The island identity is maintained with Mallorcan-style shutters and the careful conservation of original details, such as the charming sliding kitchen door. The decoration becomes a tribute to the sea, with marine objects and paintings that represent worn maps, evoking the history and charm of the coastal environment.

The bathroom, one of the highlights of the transformation, reflects the retro style with antique mirrors in a copper tone that add originality and warmth to the space. The washbasin, belonging to Bathco’s Solid Surface collection, specifically the Piamonte model, provide modernity and elegance. The custom furniture and the ceiling lamps complete the image of a bathroom that masterfully fuses vintage with contemporary.

The project not only encompasses aesthetics, but also functionality, with meticulous attention to every detail. Every corner tells a story, every element has a purpose, and the result is an exceptional home where design and local identity are harmoniously intertwined.
