The signing took place on May 2nd at the CTC facilities, located at Cantabria Science and Technology Park.
José López, manager at Bathco, and Dr. Ángel Yedra Martínez, from the Advanced Materials Area at the CTC, have signed an 18-month research project. The purpose of this project is to develop an innovative material for the sector that stands out from an aesthetic point of view, to be used in the manufacturing of sanitary ware.
It is a great step in R&D&I subsidized by ERDF Funds, and Bathco is taking it alongside the Advanced Materials area of the CTC, which is made up of a highly qualified team specialized in the study and development of new materials for high-value-added applications, aimed at meeting market needs and challenges.
With this project, Bathco seeks to bring back part of its international production to Cantabria. The company is currently in the process of adapting its facilities in Caleruco descent to be able to carry out this project and manufacture this collection of high-end sinks in Santander.
For the Bathco project, the CTC will develop an innovative material that is a blend of traditional materials, additives, advanced materials, and recycled materials for use in sanitary ware. It will be a lightweight, waterproof material with a natural finish.
At the project signing, the progress made on the project was presented. The final result will be ready by the end of 2014.
