Technology and tradition in new Solid Surface and wood sinks
Within the Solid Surface section of the new Materia catalog, you'll find a new series that combines this high-tech material with marine-grade plywood expertly turned by carpenters.

Vinci, Lucca, Volterra, and Prato are the four models born from the union of Solid Surface and wood. The first stands out for its durability and attractive matte finish, achieved through a composition with thermal characteristics that give it translucency and whiteness.
Regarding birch wood, also known as “marine plywood,” it is used to build boats that must withstand inclement weather. Due to its durability and permanence, it was chosen to create bathroom pieces that are constantly in contact with water.
This wood allows for the creation of unique pieces, as expert carpenters from Cantabria turn blocks of marine plywood, combining the most traditional methods with the latest technology, resulting in wooden rings that fit perfectly with Solid Surface bases.
The research and development process for these parts has enabled us to achieve refined, crack-free indentations. This is why the water retention capacity of these new models is total.
Vinci, Lucca, and Prato showcase wood in its fullness, and in the case of Volterra, the volume has been refined to achieve very thin walls, lightening the product and giving it unusual lightness and visual dynamism.
Designer sinks
The Vinci, Lucca, Volterra, and Prato sinks, as well as the Portofino semi-pedestal, are designs by Lucio Traficante, an industrial designer who emphasizes the importance of details.
The VINCI sink is an evolution of the already known Polaris. A piece of marine plywood is attached to its circular shape, giving it height and presence.
LUCCA is the best expression of the circular sink that respects the straight 90º angle walls.
The VOLTERRA walls are the best example of the Thin feature; they are inclined outwards and are supported by a white Solid Surface base with fully rounded edges.
PRATO is the result of the evolution of the Belted sink, which can be installed countertop or semi-recessed.
These sinks can be placed on the PORTOFINO semi-pedestal. The diameter of the pieces exceeds the width of the pedestal, protruding on both sides, giving the viewer the impression that it is floating in the air. The connection between the pedestal and the sink is hidden within the structure to emphasize a clean and refined aesthetic.
PORTOFINO is also made of Solid Surface and features a design of pure, elegant shapes that complements the washbasin line of this collection both aesthetically and functionally. Its design is conceived for wall mounting, leaving it suspended to facilitate cleaning of the area.
Its designer highlights that “its walls lean inward, forming a wedge-shaped volume that decreases in size as it extends downward. Its lower face also features a diagonal cut, which contributes to lightening the visual weight of the structure.”.
