The Iron collection, among Materia's most innovative proposals
Journal
This summer, the Cantabrian company specialized in the bathroom sector, Bathco, presented its latest catalog, Materia, an extensive collection with sinks made from a dozen materials, such as stones, resins, or metals, among others. A diverse family that has in common finishes capable of adapting to any space and context.
In a constant effort to stand out and introduce innovations in the industry, the company unveiled its Iron collection earlier this year—a series made of cast iron that offers exceptional durability and is also 100% recyclable.
After months of research and development to apply this material to bathrooms, the company's R&D team found that iron's corrosion resistance is comparable to steel's. They also discovered that despite being a hard and dense material, it is also malleable, allowing for very attractive curved designs.
As a result of this work, the models emerge BEGURSA and RIVERBANK. Both are placed on the countertop, the first oval-shaped and the second circular.
Regarding the finishes, in addition to the dark gray natural iron, they are also manufactured enameled, after a process carried out at temperatures above 810ºC and consisting of two phases, first enameling and then coloring. The result is a cream-colored sink perfect for any setting.
Finally, the collection is completed with a proposal of decorated washbasins that are developed in the company's atelier and are created, in a manual process, using decals, resulting in innovative pieces where modernity and tradition unite.
This product line is manufactured entirely at a facility in Cantabria (Spain) using metal raw materials and heavy-metal-free glazes that comply with REACH. The process uses 20% of pure iron ingots and 80% of recycled materials, which are melted at 1500ºC in cupola furnaces. They are then cast in recycled sand at 98%.
Catalogue
The Solid Surface collections complete Materia's catalog, which includes a new series called Solid Surface + Wood, one of the company's latest creations. Other collections include Composite, Wood, Cement, Gold & Silver, Stone, Terrazzo, Swarovski, and, of course, Atelier, which features pieces designed by the company's artists. These artists use sinks as blank canvases to express their creativity through unique materials, textures, and colors.
The complete document can be downloaded from the Bathco website www.thebathcollection.com in the ‘Catalogs’ section. Likewise, all references are visible in the products section.
