Bathco deco sinks return a restaurant in Valencia to its essence

In Valencia you can find the El Musical restaurant reopens with a renewed image befitting its home-style cuisine. References to the orchard and orange groves so prevalent in the local landscape are evident both on the menu and in the renovation project carried out by the architect and interior designer Javier Chulvi.

To conceptualize the project, the architect and interior designer sought to “intensify the emotional connection with the environment” using “noble materials and proper overall lighting to provide the extra warmth the space demanded.”.

The restaurant conceives of the garden as the starting point of the experience, and to achieve this, Chulvi designed a plant cover with inputs and species that constantly interact with the user, as well as slender planters that allow for space separation and provide a degree of intimacy for diners. On the other hand, it draws inspiration from the geometry of orange groves, the color palette of cultivated nature, and creates balanced, bright, and welcoming spaces.

Lighting plays a fundamental role in interior space composition. The hanging vegetation is bathed in a play of contrasts, while the overhead and perimeter lighting is provided by planters, a combination that achieves an interesting theatrical effect.

In the restaurant's restrooms, you can see three examples of how artisanal work enhances a project aiming for differentiation. Javier Chulvi explains his work: “The redesign of the restrooms was conceived and planned from the very beginning. The material and artisanal soul of the passage of time captivates the environment, highlighting nooks and crannies with designer ceramic pieces. The presence of colored stained glass, hydraulic mosaic, wrought iron railings, and the style of handcrafted, high-quality sinks pay homage to a bygone era we don't want to forget. The incorporation of decorative elements, carefully distributed while respecting and enhancing the original intention, helps to understand the proposed philosophy.”.

There you will find the sinks decorated with ceramic decals by Bathco company artisans, which were chosen to complete the spaces. First is the sink New Lys decorated in red Toile de Jouy. In the bathroom decorated in blue tones, we find the model Rectangular olive upholstered with blue Toile de Jouy. Finally, we see the semi-recessed Naples reference with the L'Forest decoration.

As a summary of the project, Chulvi highlights the “architectural balance developed in detail, generating an experience where the artificial, understood as architecture, and the natural, understood as vegetation, are in constant interaction, making architecture the perfect catalyst for the memorable gastronomic experience enjoyed within.”.
