The bathroom of the future

Forget the current concept of the bathroom, because in a few years it will have evolved thanks to Petr Strejcek, a visionary from the Faculty of Architecture in Prague. His project Elastigenic won the awards Hansgrohe Award 2014: Efficient Water Design with a totally revolutionary bathroom concept.

This project addresses a basic problem in contemporary bathrooms: hard-to-reach places. The bathroom Elastigenic It is mainly made of a material that can be molded to form objects such as a sink, bathtub, shower tray, towel racks, etc.

Thanks to its main characteristic, elasticity, this material can be returned to its original smooth surface to allow for faster and easier cleaning. This is due to a telescopic mechanism located beneath the surface which, additionally, closes the surface and prevents the formation of undesirable gaps and sharp corners.

The jury's opinion for the awards was: “It's a fascinating global bathroom concept. The different objects formed from this material create a landscape in the bathroom that reminds us of nature. The space occupied by individual objects can be completely changed at any time.”.
