Education through art

Art is an essential element in human development and evolution. It offers numerous benefits in education and social integration, as it possesses a socio-educational, creative, and dynamic function.

Under this prism, Bathco decides to launch a social program linked to their Atelier with the goal of bringing art and its application to ceramics closer to groups not strictly related to the business world.

Thus, the Bathco Atelier opens its doors to schools, special education centers, and hospitals, offering them different content and experiences in the form of practical workshops.So that children of different school ages or people with some type of physical or intellectual disability can learn firsthand about the work done at the Atelier through play and experimentation with pigments, techniques, and different materials.

The first to visit the company's facilities were the kindergarten students from Salesians School of Santander and the students of the centers Special Education Fernando Arce from Torrelavega and John XXIII from Santander. They were all able to see firsthand the work done in the Atelier, such as manual decal application, Swarovski crystal inlay, hand-painted piece development, and the creation of volumetric porcelain pieces for mural creation, among other things.

For the teachers at these centers, “this type of activity develops their creativity and artistic abilities to the fullest, and always generates anticipation and excitement for them when facing challenges by doing something new and different.” They also highlight how “their time at the Atelier facilities allows them to see how work is done based on a project, fostering their creativity and social skills outside the educational environment.”.

The students became artists for a day, using different pigments that they mixed themselves with water and oils to apply to the ceramics. The result has been a series of tiles that have acted as canvases for colorful and very interesting works.

María Centeno, Cecilio Espejo, and Emeric Minaya, The Atelier artists supervised the students“ work in the workshops. For them, the most interesting aspect was seeing ”how young children and people with disabilities are capable of fully exploiting their abilities, immediately freeing themselves from any prejudice or limiting barriers, to unleash their imagination and express their ideas in a completely unique and personal way.".
