Art and social dynamization

IMG_20180222_181902Art is an essential element in human development and evolution. Specifically, the benefits it provides to children are numerous, as it holds a socio-educational, creative, and energizing function.

Under this premise, Bathco, through Fusodeba, is developing a program of painting and ceramics workshops led by artists from the Bathco Atelier for both educational centers and hospital areas. In the case of hospitals, this type of activity reduces the anxiety and stress of hospitalized and/or sick children and their families, facilitating emotional expression and promoting positive changes in mood.

HOSPITAL-BASED WORKSHOPS

The artists who work with ceramics daily in the Bathco workshop periodically move to the pediatrics area of the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital (HUMV) to conduct a highly creative workshop in collaboration with the association Buscando Sonrisas. Ceramics, pigments, the artists' knowledge, and the help of Buscando Sonrisas volunteers are the tools with which children aged 3 to 16 unleash their creativity.

The agreed-upon program is completed with the development of a mural that incorporates all the material created by the children in the workshops. This mural is created to name the hospital's playground and thus achieve a colorful space for the enjoyment of the little ones.

This mural was unveiled on Saturday, May 12, 2018, to celebrate the International Day of the Hospitalized Child in the playground of the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital. Buscando Sonrisas organized a series of activities in which the children from the hospital, their families, a large number of volunteers, and various invited associations such as the Nueve Valles de Reocín choir and La Orden de Revan participated.

The event was inaugurated with the unveiling of the mural, which from that moment on presides over the park, as the final result of a project that Bathco, in collaboration with Buscando Sonrisas, has been carrying out at the Hospital.
