Timeless pieces
TipsCenturies, even millennia of history support a vast knowledge of porcelain, its characteristics, and its decorative forms. Ceramic decoration using decals is one of the most widely used techniques. And at Bathco, they've been applying this technique for over 40 years.
Ceramic decals are vitrifiable pigments capable of transferring any design or drawing onto ceramic or glass-ceramic pieces or products, meaning porcelain, tiles, earthenware, etc. But What may seem simple at first glance, has its complexity. And it's a completely artisanal process that requires developing great technical skill and a lot of knowledge about how porcelain behaves.
Bathco's artisans have been carrying out this craftsmanship for 40 years: a labor crafted with care, design by design, piece by piece, sink by sink, with the help of their expert hands and the know-how of someone who has spent a lifetime perfecting their technique to create a collection of decorated sinks. This is how it is born A very special collection of hand-painted sinks.
Furthermore, the incorporation of ceramic decal printing allows for infinite creative possibilities, so as not to curb creativity and reduce production times in custom projects, as we already saw in the Restaurant La Voladora or the Cabárceno Natural Park. In other words, it also allows for the extension of this decal transfer technique to all types of ceramic surfaces, such as murals.
An artisanal process
For the decoration of the sinks and murals created at Bathco Atelier, the following is followed a process in which each step is essential to achieve a perfect result, in which porcelain and decal fuse, giving rise to a unique piece. This procedure begins by ensuring the cleanliness of the surface on which you will be working; only then will you be able to apply the decals correctly.
Every detail of the creation process is important., A process that begins by immersing the decals in water to apply them to the surface manually, adapting the design to the curvature of the parts and aligning the separations to simulate a perfect union.
After this, the excess water is removed, the pieces are placed in the carts, and baking proceeds to achieve the vitrification that will ensure timeproof pieces. The baking process lasts eight hours, during which the ovens operate between 500 and 800 degrees, depending on the temperature required for the color of each decal.
