Hotel or art gallery
Projects, HospitalityIf you have walked through Santander, you will have noticed the exquisite architectural heritage that the city boasts. From the houses on Paseo de Pereda to the Sardinero Casino or the Magdalena Palace.
Within that architecture are two old mansions: Villa Carmina and Villa Rosa María, which Emilio de la Torriente built in 1898 on Calle del Sol or Calle del Carmen.
Following a renovation of the palaces, during which additions that detracted from the original facades were removed and the interiors were redistributed, the Hotel Sol Boutique emerged from Mara Group.
Francisco Javier Gutiérrez Borbolla and María del Carmen Gutiérrez Sámano were very aware of the value of these iconic buildings when they acquired them. Therefore, they were very respectful in the process of adapting them to the new hotel uses. And to give them even more value, they opted for special pieces to decorate their interiors. They themselves comment that “The buildings, now converted into a hotel, are part of the city's protected heritage. One could say it's the closest thing to a jewel that houses true works of art within it.
The owners were very clear that they wanted to create A cozy hotel and for this, they relied on the vision of designer Cintia Díaz Díaz. Thanks to your work, we can see that each room holds very special pieces: works of art, designer furniture, and pieces created by the artists of Bathco Atelier deliberately for this boutique hotel.

If we go into the bathrooms in the rooms we will see Unique, curated, original spaces… And the selection of materials was not by chance. Each of the pieces was chosen thoughtfully by the designer to create meaningful environments, and Andres Navedo, head of exhibitions at... was instrumental in this process. Lostal, one of Bathco's official distributors in Cantabria.
This way you can see different Bathco sinks present in many of the bathrooms of this four-star hotel's rooms. Would you like to see them? Check in and come on in.

A mural created by artists
For room 206, Chinoserie, they chose wallpaper and wanted to continue the design into the bathroom, but they needed a water-resistant material. For this reason, they turned to the artists at Bathco Atelier, who reproduced the design on ceramic decals and applied them manually to tiles. These tiles cover in the form of mural the main wall of this en-suite bathroom.
Right there, holding an old Macael marble sink, was placed a Steel bracket set what can be found in the add-ons section of the Bathco General Catalog.

To achieve this, a digital design was created, printed onto ceramic decals, and decorated by aligning the basin's design with that of the valve. This way, visitors will appreciate the complete design while using the sink.

The Dinan sink, this time without stamping, also appears in room 210 White Horse on a wooden countertop.

A HAND-PAINTED SINK
For the bathroom in room 211, Peony Bouquet, the designer wanted the sink to have a similar look to the mosaics from Hisbalit that were placed on one of the walls. To achieve it, the artists made different tests until they found the exact color and obtained a Lysa washbasin in rosy tones. Here you can also see the interplay of supports with a white countertop.
