Transformation of a penthouse with a kitesurfing soul in Madrid
Projects, ResidentialIn the heart of the bustling city of Madrid, amidst the concrete jungle, lies a comprehensive renovation project that carries the essence of the Mediterranean coast and a passion for kitesurfing.
This project is special from the start, as the clients were lifelong friends, a kitesurfing enthusiast and his fiancée. For years, the client had lived in the same building on another floor, dreaming of the possibility of acquiring the penthouse. Finally, in 2021, the opportunity presented itself, and they decided to make that dream a reality by transforming the space into a sanctuary that reflected their love for the sea, wind, and coast.

From the beginning, the objective was clear: to transform the attic into a home that evoked the feeling of Mediterranean living. The desire was that anyone who entered would feel tempted to peek out onto the terrace and contemplate the sea, despite being in the center of the capital.
To achieve this, a highly visually permeable design was created, connecting the main living spaces with the terrace. The result was a unique set of living room, dining room, kitchen, and bedroom, all connected but differentiated by uses and volumes.

The use of natural materials and a neutral earth-toned color palette was essential. Lime mortar on the walls provided texture and warmth, evoking Mediterranean coastal dwellings.
In the bathroom, they opted for the lMadagascar Stone Avocado which, due to its material and color, blends perfectly with its surroundings. The black details, present in metallic elements such as the faucets, add touches of contemporary design to this warm and functional space.

This comprehensive renovation project is a testament to how design can transcend geographical boundaries and bring the essence of a special place to any corner of the world. This penthouse is a true home where the sea and the city meet in perfect harmony.
