Beatriz Silveira talks about «Inspire & evoke».»
StoriesBeatriz Silveira She arrived at interior design by instinct, as she herself states. Her creative character and passion for antiques led her to dive headfirst into the world of decoration until she opened her own studio in 2005.
Her appearance at Casa Decor 2010 with the project “Let me tell you a story” marked a turning point in her career. In the eight years she has been present, she has designed contemporary, elegant, and sophisticated spaces that have never ceased to surprise, and furthermore, she has been awarded on several occasions for both her projects and her original designs.
For this edition of Casa Decor, the interior designer has designed the space for Bathco «Inspire & Evoke, It is the bathroom on the fifth floor of the Tomás Allende House. A space that is both sophisticated and serene, and in the words of its creator, «transports us on a journey of emotions and sensations thanks to the combination of materials and textures.»
We spoke with her to understand the keys to the project.
You are a regular interior designer at CASA DECOR, we could say it's almost impossible to talk about your career without mentioning this annual event. What has it contributed to your career? How would you define CASA DECOR?
Casa Decor was indeed where I started showing my work to the public. I did my first project in 2010, and since then, every year with the same enthusiasm, I have presented my work to everyone who likes it. My colleagues who have been coming through the platform for years will tell you that it's a generator of good things. It's the space where we all share the excitement of an event that always brings us good things.
Bathco is a brand you already knew and worked with... But is there anything that particularly surprised you while collaborating together on this project?
In my projects, I regularly worked with Bathco, and I was aware of the fantastic quality it has and its wide product range. Perhaps I was less aware of the range of different materials and how I could richly adapt its materials to my projects.
What will we find in the project you've created for Bathco? What will you surprise us with?
This year, the bathroom I'm presenting is a very complete space in terms of the sensations the visitor will experience on a sensory level. There's a lot of material, a lot of richness in terms of different textures, and I believe in any case that it's a special bathroom that we've created with great enthusiasm, where the Bathco Atelier truly takes center stage. In a surprising way, they've managed to give shape to each of the ideas I've shown them, and I think that's one of the things that will truly surprise and delight people.
INSPIRE & EVOKE is the name of your project for Bathco at Casa Decor. What did you want to convey with it? What is the bathroom concept you wanted to recreate?
Inspire & Evoke is the name I wanted to give our bathroom, and what I wanted to convey with it, and what has inspired me, have been the natural materials it's made from, let's say the organic shapes that Bathco's collection gives me.
What would you highlight about the project on a more technical level? What are you most satisfied with?
On a technical level, it is a complex project. Both the marble cladding with the special patterns I designed and the pieces that the Bathco Atelier has created for this space have a special complexity that they have managed to resolve perfectly.
One of the central elements of the work developed in this project has been the intervention of the artists who are part of the Bathco Atelier. How has this experience been? What specific work has been developed with them?
The intervention by the professionals at the Bathco Atelier is absolutely fundamental and central to the space. Being in contact with them, watching them work, and seeing how each of the pieces progressed has been a very satisfying part of this project's process.
