Converting an 80's house into a modern home
Projects, ResidentialThe transformation of this 80s house into a contemporary and visually connected space was a great challenge for Estudio Ibarra. In this exciting remodeling project, the interior design team's main objective was to meet the owners' needs. They longed for a fresh and modern design that reflected their easygoing yet sophisticated personality.

The main focus was on highlighting the open space between the kitchen, living room, and dining room, creating a sense of spaciousness at all times. Although the original layout of the house required few changes. The decision was made to open up the living room and kitchen space, turning it into a 70-square-meter area. This decision allowed for better flow between the two areas, fostering interaction and facilitating entertainment during gatherings and social events.

While the rooms maintained their usual 1980s home configuration to accommodate the needs of four bedrooms, a contemporary approach was applied in the decor and finishes to provide a sense of modernity and style throughout the living space. Lighting played a crucial role in the project, highlighting architectural features and emphasizing key details of the house.

With the goal of achieving a cohesive visual connection throughout the home, materials and colors were carefully selected to complement each other. The chosen color palette was based on neutral and bright tones, creating a fresh and airy atmosphere in all areas. Special emphasis was placed on details, such as in the master bathroom, where the Nilo sink The Bathco became the heart of the space. The incorporation of large-format porcelain tiles, a large mirror, and a custom-made piece of furniture in oak battens highlighted the importance of this area.

On the other hand, the guest bathroom was designed with a more youthful approach, without sacrificing the elegance that characterizes the rest of the home. The curved lines of both the mirror and the Dinan washbasin they added a sophisticated touch to this space.

Additionally, special attention was paid to the furniture and accessories, with contemporary design pieces selected for their clean lines and simple forms that complemented the overall style of the project. Decorative details, such as artwork and natural elements, were also incorporated to highlight the owners' personality and create a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.
