Bathco Atelier Experience

Stories

On June 1 and 2, Cantabrian companies Bathco e Hisbalit organized the Workshop “Craftsmanship and Trends”, two days of work and experimentation in which Patricia Bustos, Virginia Nieto, Pepe Leal, Fabian Ñíguez, and Nacho Alegría participated.

Interior designers and creatives traveled to Cantabria to learn about the headquarters of both companies, their working methods, and their spaces dedicated to craftsmanship, where it is possible to create completely “custom-made” products.

On Thursday, June 1st, interior designers visited Bathco's showroom in Santander, where they had an exclusive first look at the new products that will be featured in the upcoming catalog from the company specializing in the bathroom sector. One of the day's surprises was found in the firm's R&D department, where they saw prototypes of 3D printed sinks, ceramic decal printing, and the development of photoluminescent pieces for special projects, as well as murals that incorporate video mapping techniques.

Like fish in water within the Atelier

The renowned interior designers became acquainted with the space of creation and experimentation Bathco Atelier where a group of multidisciplinary artists develop ideas and intervene in sinks piece by piece. Each sink serves as a canvas to create different finishes. They also mold ceramics to add volume and apply decals artisanally thanks to decades of experience.

Patricia Bustos, Virginia Nieto, Pepe Leal, Fabián Ñíguez, and Nacho Alegría were able to fully immerse themselves in the Atelier, learning firsthand the techniques and possibilities that porcelain offers and how to creatively apply them to their projects.

A discovery for professionals. For Fabián Ñíguez Bathco's Atelier is “the height of customization. It allows customization to the extreme. Something that clients are asking for, as in the end they want something super exclusive.”. An idea that is also shared Pepe Leal who assured that his creative mind was ignited after visiting Bathco Atelier.“I've seen endless customization possibilities: finishes, shapes, creating volumes, textures”adds Leal.

Patricia Bustos He already knew the space because he became an artist at Bathco Atelier to be part of the creation process of the pieces made for the Tacto Sereno space at Casa Decor 2022. During those days, he experienced the possibilities of porcelain, which he recalls during this visit.«The possibilities are infinite because it's a natural, artisanal coating that you can color in a thousand ways, apply decals to, create textures, and add volumes… Lately, I've discovered the power of porcelain and ceramic, and I'm making furniture, lamps, pedestals, vases, sinks… We are now discovering the power of customization in ceramics and porcelain, and anything is susceptible to being used or replaced with porcelain.«.

Nacho Alegría told us how he would apply the techniques that are put into practice here, «In the end, the possibilities are infinite with Atelier, in terms of customization, materials, colors, finishes, all the prints, and so on. Any product can fit into any project because you can always customize and always adapt it to your client or whatever you want in a project.«.

Virginia Nieto He highlighted how craftsmanship enhances a project: «With craftsmanship, you can create special, unique things, and also work with materials with much more creativity.«.
