Trends

The Greek style is reborn to make Mediterranean elements a trend. Talking about Greek decoration means talking about white, which tries to bathe everything in its path. But it's not all white; great importance is given to materials, and details in different shades can be found, all seeking harmony, simplicity, and uniformity.

To learn more details about interior design trends in Greece, we spoke with Eirini Makropoulou, director of Philosophy, Bathco's commercial agency in the country.

The Greek decorative style is characterized by its emphasis on balance, symmetry, and proportion. It often incorporates classical architectural elements, geometric patterns, and natural motifs such as leaves, flowers, and animals. Common colors include white, black, blue, and gold, and materials like marble, pottery, and bronze are frequently used.

The great classics of architecture were born in our country and are part of our daily lives. These ideas are revisited by contemporary architecture, to which elements of industrial design are added.

What is the importance of materials in the bathroom?

A lot of consideration is given to the selection of materials that are high quality, durable, and easy to use. Whether for building a bathroom at home or a hotel space, it's about combining quality and beauty. Materials that were unusual until a few years ago, such as cement and resins, wood, or metal, are now being adopted.

What are the best-selling items in Greece?

Colored ceramics have become very popular. Stone and marble sinks are also making a big comeback. As for sanitary ware, wall-hung models are now used almost exclusively.

Precisely this trend in the use of materials like stone or marble can be seen in one of Eirini's latest projects. It is the Macedonia Palace Hotel located in Thessaloniki and is considered one of the most famous and prestigious hotels in Greece.

The study “Porcelain,” through its department “Porcelain Project”has been in charge of renovating this iconic hotel. A luxury hotel that has been in operation for 60 years has radically renovated and modernized its image, choosing quality and aesthetically appealing products.

In the renovation, marble takes on great importance, very present in the bathrooms, the hall, and the building's lounge. For this project, the team of architects and interior designers chose the Rectangular Olea sink by Bathco to equip the hotel room bathrooms.
