New trends in hotel bathroom design
For years, hotel bathrooms followed a familiar formula: neutral colours and durable materials. Today, whilst still meeting those requirements, interior design is beginning to explore new possibilities.

Bathrooms are increasingly being integrated into the overall design concept of the room and are adopting the project’s aesthetic style. The result is more personalised spaces, where colour, materials and shapes take on a significance previously reserved for other areas of the hotel.
Materials that transform a space
The quest for a warmer atmosphere is bringing materials and finishes with a strong visual presence into the bathroom. Stone, wood, textured surfaces and matt finishes sit alongside traditional ceramics, allowing for the creation of designs with greater depth.

The way they are combined also changes. The contrast between smooth and rough surfaces, natural materials and more refined elements adds richness to the space without the need to introduce too many elements.
This combination also links the bathroom to a wider trend in hotel interior design: creating spaces that convey a particular atmosphere and have a closer connection to their surroundings.
Bathrooms adjacent to the bedroom
The boundaries between the two spaces are also changing. Bathrooms that open onto the bedroom, glass partitions, integrated dressing areas and materials that flow from one room to the next mean that the bathroom and bedroom are beginning to share a common design language.
This does not necessarily mean doing away with privacy, but rather seeking greater visual continuity. The bathroom is no longer perceived as an isolated room but becomes part of the room’s interior design.
Lighting plays a part in this transformation. In contrast to purely functional lighting, there are now indirect light sources, backlit mirrors and softer ambiences that allow the space to be adapted to different times of day.
A fresh look at hotel bathrooms
More materials, more colour and greater freedom in design are leading to hotel bathrooms that are becoming increasingly unpredictable. These are spaces where functionality remains essential, but no longer determines the outcome on its own.
Hotel interior design thus finds in the bathroom a new arena in which to experiment and forge an identity. This approach to the bathroom is one that we also apply through our Hospitality projects, tailoring our approach to the character and requirements of each space.
