Oceanographic Center, in communion with the sea

Atelier

With a coastal location, this oceanographic center has a presence as simple as it is imposing, an omnipresent cube that stands out from afar. This space dedicated to marine sciences serves as a cultural and scientific center dedicated to the sea.

Crossing the threshold, we enter the various exhibition halls, journeying through different marine zones: oceans, wetlands, and islands. The rooftop houses a bright restaurant open to the sea, and in the basement resides the aquarium with an enviable collection of flora and fauna. In a serene and open environment like the Oceanographic, we encounter glimpses of marine ecosystems that evoke countless aquatic environments and gently transport us across seas.

Through molded ceramics and pigments, the artists at the Atelier have recreated the seabed in both the mural installed in the lobby and the restroom sinks. The textures play at being fossils and corals, and the colors acquire movement to become waves.

In the museum's lobby, where tickets are processed, the key pieces that introduce us to the marine universe have been installed. This is an organic composition that simulates a set of white ceramic corals. It integrates into the space like a tailored suit, with a finesse and neatness that only a custom-made piece could achieve.
In the restrooms, we find another nod to the sea. The sinks have been designed to play with fluids, simulating seawater and the creatures that inhabit it. The sinks are only fully appreciated when viewed together, with the fish appearing to leap from one piece to the next.
