Reflections in paradise
Projects, ResidentialIbarra Study It is an architecture studio that is more than a place, it is an entire philosophy of work. There, we can find Paloma Ibarra, Ruth Cano, and Carmen Contreras, who aim to listen to every request, dream, or need in a close and personal environment to create custom designs and homes.

One of his/her latest works is Reflections in paradise, a home located in Puerta de Hierro (Madrid) that revolves around two elements: mirrors and perimeter lighting. The team studied the lighting of each room in detail, from footlights to overhead lighting, thus achieving pleasant and welcoming spaces.
Upon entering the home, we can imagine that space optimization was a priority when undertaking this project. This is evident in the cabinets installed at the entrance, which provide ample space for organization.
Kitchen, dining room, and living room
In front, we are met with the open kitchen connecting to the dining room and living room. Paloma Ibarra assures that “Kitchens are no longer hidden away; they are the heart of the home. They are displayed, connect spaces, and are the new social and family gathering place.”.
This kitchen is designed for daily use and to be the heart of the home. The presence of wood is very important, as are the touches of color seen in the glass lamps above the counter and table, the dining room chairs, and the painting opposite the sofa.
The white, handleless cabinets offer a clear view, finding warmth in the countertop, pops of color in the decor, and natural materials. The kitchen front is designed to reflect the island and dining area, further expanding the space.
Access to the sleeping area
To separate the day and night zones, a sculptural sliding door made of iron and glass was installed. Estudio Ibarra opted for this design so that it would become another decorative element. The materials helped them not to block natural light and to maintain visual contact and communication between the different spaces.

The master bedroom with a walk-in closet
In the master bedroom, we see that wood continues to play an important role in both the furniture and the headboard. Similarly, lighting plays a crucial role in both the bedroom and the dressing room. There, we again see a glass and black iron structure as a separation, without sacrificing the entry of light.
The bathroom
The main bathroom was conceived as if it were a stage set. From the studio they comment that “We placed a large, aged mirror as a backdrop behind a large freestanding bathtub.”. There we find a suspended white piece of furniture with gold handles on which is placed the Bathco Dinan circular porcelain sink.
Second room
“Paradise may be closer than you think, right in your own home.”Estudio Ibarra achieves this by placing wallpaper on the headboard, wooden nightstands, and natural-toned textiles.
