Serene touch, a new hotel reception concept

Atelier

«Serene Touch» proposes a new concept for hotel reception. For the first time, we are taking the sink out of the bathroom to open it up to public spaces where the beauty and functionality of this piece hold the same significance and allow us to use our most primal sense., the touch. With this space, the recovery of a real world, one that can be felt and touched, is claimed. And precisely this sense is reflected through the pieces designed by the interior designer and created by the artists of the Bathco Atelier. Interior designer Patricia Bustos states that “In an era where everything is over-intellectualized, feeling is presented to us as a way to experience and explore that which was always there but, for some reason, we stopped honoring.”.

In a society that sees parallel universes being created where the corporeal is lost, the Bathco space reclaims places with soul and meaning with the help of Patricia Bustos Studio. The interior designers' creativity led them to imagine handcrafted pieces for this new space.“Throughout all these years, craftsmanship has brought our bodies closer, through senses like sight and touch, to experiences of beauty, respect, and care.  Patricia Bustos visited Bathco Atelier to learn about the different techniques the artists apply to their work. She got an idea of the possibilities this space offers and became involved in the creative process, working hand-in-hand with the artists. In this way, different ceramic pieces have been brought to life: counter, a bench, some lamps, some sinks with their pedestals and the legs of the central table.

Patricia Bustos Studio designed two furniture pieces for the “Calm Touch” space inspired by architectural brutalism: a 3.13 x 2.80 m counter and a 2.10 x 0.32 m bench. The Atelier artists were responsible for reproducing both pieces to later cover them with ceramic. Finally, they applied a patina for an aged look, painted them in a gradient with desaturated tones, and finished them with a fine golden patina.

The sink becomes a key element in TACTO SERENO because it appears for the first time in a public space of these characteristics. This allows visitors to purify themselves upon arriving at the hall and then proceed to the reception desk to manage their reservation. On this occasion, the circular Dinan model is chosen, adorned with Vichy checks. As Patricia Bustos announced months ago, these checks are a trend in 2022, and she wanted to make this clear in her design. The sinks, painted by artists from Bathco Atelier, are placed on pedestals and complemented by Tasos faucets. On a cylindrical form, the artists apply a ceramic layer that they paint, simulating the same checks seen on the sinks, thus creating the pedestals. Following the same technique, a scaled-down reproduction of the pedestals was made to create the legs of the table that can be seen in the center of the space.

The space called for three lamps to be placed in the center of the room. To conceive them, the artists built three conical structures that were covered with ceramic and painted with the same technique as the counter and the bench to create a global atmosphere.

For the first time and exclusively for visitors of Casa Decor 2022, we present a new line of TASOS Faucets which will be available in our next general catalog, which will be available in May of this year. You can also see two Dinan sinks on pedestals created by Bathco artists. The Tasos model features a wall-mounted faucet that is simplified to the maximum with two simple pieces – faucet and handle – leaving the mechanism embedded and visually clearing the area, giving importance to the elements that truly have it. Modernity and simplicity.

“In a world where we wish to regain embraces and physical contact, the sink becomes a sort of spring that returns us to the world ready to use our most primal and fundamental sense, the first one we develop at birth, the one that produces the most oxytocin and happiness hormone, TOUCH.”
Patricia Bustos
