A tailwind
Projects, ResidentialIn this project, we find a clear example of the difficulty involved in a project of Exterior and interior rehabilitation when it comes to a Protected building This farmhouse is located in a prime spot in the city of Santander.
It is an emblematic and very characteristic building in this fishing town. The owners of this home, who are in love with the sea and the city, wanted to preserve that character while equipping it with the latest trends in interior design and decoration. For this, they relied on Aedificare studio and the result couldn't be more spectacular. They themselves have named the project Smooth sailing, We couldn't agree more.
In this project, Aedificare repaired the roof, bringing the facade back to life, even reproducing the hand-painted nomenclature from its origins. They reorganized the outdoor space and completely transformed “their favorite part,” the interior of the home.
The study tells us how the property owners repeatedly told them they wanted “a nautical house but at the same time it had to be sophisticated, timeless, and cozy,” which is why they chose “the right elements to subtly convey that the sea, the real sea, is breathed in this house.”.
The home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a combined kitchen, dining, and living area visually separated by a lacquered wood lattice. It features double access to the kitchen and a central island acting as a breakfast bar.
Para Aedificare, “the chosen materials remind us of the interior of a ship, walnut woods, beige and cream finishes, and a wide range of blues in upholstery and ceramics.”.
“In the center of the living room, the ‘Craftsbury’ stove Hergom presides and ‘tempers’ the stay, while natural light and garden views make us not want to leave home.
Next to the living room, one of the bedrooms with double sliding doors and a curved wall is perfectly integrated into the space.
We reached the bathrooms where Aedificare has done an impeccable job. This is one of the most special rooms in the house, with the most personality, that best connect with the sea and all that it represents.
For the study, “in the main bathroom, worthy of a good ship captain, the undisputed protagonist is the Bathco Titanic Second Class sink, which rests on a classic console with a custom-made Macael marble top.
“While the crew's bathroom was meant to be more fun,” that's why they chose a turquoise, scaled ceramic that looks spectacular next to the Bathco New Nordic sink.
