Personalization of spaces
TrendsWhen decorating any space, we not only show our personality and taste, but we also create rooms where we can relax and enjoy ourselves.
To find spaces adapted to our needs, it can be very useful to get advice from a professional who knows all the possibilities the market offers in terms of new products, trends, quality, etc. With creativity and smart ideas, any space can be made to fulfill all the expected functions.
In the market, you can find an endless variety of products where functionality and design go hand in hand. Bathco collections aim to offer something beyond the conventional, not only in terms of design but also due to the human value embedded in each piece that is worked on in the workshop. This is how true customization is achieved; by painting sinks by hand, molding ceramic pieces to create murals, etc. In other words, by combining artisanal work methods with mechanical processes, etc.
Ultimately, the search is for products that offer new concepts to help create unique spaces. The interior designer Teresa Casas He is very aware of it and that's why he thought about the work being done in Bathco Atelier to carry out a project in a town in Girona.
All projects undertaken by Teresa Casas share a common denominator: a passion for detail and the creation of spaces that awaken the senses. Everything counts when planning a home project.
This was demonstrated during the renovation of a terrace in a private home located on the Costa Brava. With this project, the interior designer wanted to create a space where all elements maintained a balance: the interior space, the volume, the materials, the light, the textures, the colors, etc.
Teresa, tell us what this project has consisted of.
The project addresses the adaptation of the terrace of a private residence located in the center of a town on the Costa Brava.
It's not a modern building, but rather an old house with character.
The terrace was practically unused as it wasn't considered a space for enjoyment. We thought it would be important to reclaim it, especially to take advantage of this space during sunny hours in the seasons that are not the hottest. In summer, due to its proximity to the beach, it's not as necessary, and people prefer the cool interior of the home, which, due to its construction, stays cool during high temperatures.
So, the owner understood that this space could be used and enjoyed for many months of the year.
To what extent did the environment influence the development of this project?
The environment influenced it a lot. Being located on the coast, references to the sea and the coastline couldn't be ignored.
In each of your projects, you appeal to the senses. What did you think a mural Atelier could bring to this project?
The Atelier mural is exactly what I was looking for to give the place this touch of reference, personalization, exclusivity, and artistic expression, which also conveys the value of craftsmanship: our clients are people who value art in all its manifestations. For this reason, they really liked the idea, and it has truly turned out as expected.
How was the creation process of the Atelier mural, from when you made the request to when you saw it installed?
It has been a shared process at all times between Bathco and our studio. We indicated what we needed to convey, textures, and colors we would use, and Bathco's creative team immediately understood our suggestions.
So, starting from sketches that barely needed retouching and the final project, production began within the established deadlines. Finally, the mural's breakdown was supplied and it was easily installed following the company's instructions.
The Bathco Atelier mural has been a project we will definitely repeat in other installations.
The artists
To understand the project, it is essential to know how it was conceived. Cecilio Espejo and María Centeno are the Artists from the Bathco Atelier who have worked together with Teresa Casas' team on this project. They themselves tell us about their experience.
For María, “this project had very defined guidelines. A composition was desired that combined painting and volume inspired by the Mediterranean. We then focused on the characteristic blues of the Mediterranean in the forms of its underwater fauna: fish, corals, and seashells.”.
Cecilio delves into the technique, stating that for the artist, “the mural has two very differentiated techniques and treatments: ceramic painting to recreate the school of fish and corals, and three-dimensional work done using volumetric elements that simulate shells. It should be noted that these elements have been molded in porcelain one by one, without the aid of molds. Totally artisanal work. Once fired, a varnish has been applied to protect it from external elements.”.
