Although it's usually one of the smallest rooms in the house, the bathroom plays a central role in the daily use of the home. It's the anteroom where we get ready before an event, the place where we relax after a long day at work or a tough gym session, and the space where we take care of and pamper our bodies... These are many functions for, generally, few square meters, and therefore, it is essential to carefully plan the layout of each of its components.  

Imagination and creativity must come into play to find a formula that knows how to combine aesthetics and functionality. And that's the key. It's not enough for it to be pretty. It's not enough for it to be practical. For your bathroom to make an impact, you must find the balance between both attributes. 

Today we bring you some easy-to-apply ideas for decorating your bathroom: 

Added value. Once the fixed elements (sink, toilet, and shower/bathtub) are placed, analyze the space to find those corners that can house storage space where no one expects it. This will have an impact while creating a useful space. Some examples could be wall-integrated shelves, drawers around the bathtub, mirrors with cabinets... 

Up and down. The upper area of the toilet and the lower area of the sink are unused spaces that can greatly contribute to the room's decor: shelves, low modules, semicircular carts, baskets, bamboo or raffia boxes... the options are very varied. 

Narrow and tall. In small rooms where we also move around a lot, it is advisable to opt for furniture that takes advantage of vertical space and, at the same time, has little depth so that it does not obstruct movement. 

Mobility. Modules with wheels that allow furniture to be moved easily to be used or put away as needed are a growing trend. 

Hiding spots. Corners like the back of a door are ideal for placing towel racks, bathrobes, or organizers with multiple compartments that can hold makeup, combs, hair straighteners, hairdryers, shavers, creams, etc.  

Visual game. It's undeniable that a bathroom needs cabinets, but the way they are distributed throughout the room can make all the difference. Opting for small modules and placing them suspended, even asymmetrically, mixing colors, can create a very interesting dynamism in the space. 

...And finally... a little trick 

Large or small, the key to good bathroom storage is order. Everything should have its place and be accessible, supporting space organization with dividers, hooks, or boxes. The best thing to do before you start storing things and organizing the interior of cabinets is to stop and think about routines. If you put on makeup and use a hair straightener every morning, try to find storage space close together for these items, and take into account the different heights, structures, and volumes of those objects that will share a drawer or shelf.
