The toilets of the Titanic

It has been over a hundred years but everything that has to do with the Titanic It never ceases to amaze us. Both its history, which has been featured in successful films and documentaries, and the grandeur of the construction project for that famous ship.

Bathco has recaptured the best of that era in its collection Titanic Collection by Bathco, a series of sinks and various accessories (mahogany furniture, faucets, bathrobes, and towel sets) that faithfully reproduce the first and second-class bathrooms of the Titanic.

The idea for this collection, which is already on sale, originated in 2015, when the TITANIC Foundation Bathco is commissioned to reproduce the bathrooms of the famous ship with the goal of completing the exhibition "Titanic, the Reconstruction.".

To learn more details about the project, we spoke with Jesus Ferreiro, President of the Titanic Foundation.

What has the inauguration of the exhibition Titanic: The Reconstruction meant for the Titanic Foundation?

This exhibition is, without a doubt, the most effective tool for helping to keep the true story of our beloved and mythical Titanic alive in millions of people. It is not just another exhibition; I even dare to say it is not an exhibition at all. I define it as a sensory experience where, using the most sensitive parts of our senses, it helps us to travel back to 1912 and embark on the “ship of dreams,” enjoying its incredible facilities and, of course, suffering with all the painful stories that happened on board. Furthermore, it is the only exhibition where the stories are told by their actual protagonists.

What are the most prominent pieces in the exhibition?

Materially, the most valuable piece of the exhibition is, without a doubt, the large model of the Titanic because it is not only the largest in the world, but also the most spectacular.

The tour of “Titanic: the reconstruction” started in Granada, went through Tarragona, and is currently in Vigo. What are the next destinations?

The following cities we have committed to visiting are: Bilbao, Barcelona, Bologna, Rome, Bordeaux, Paris, Cherbourg, Southampton, New York, San Francisco, Mexico City, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, and we are currently negotiating a visit to Cuba, but it is already the year 2021.

What has this initiative meant for both entities?

Screenshot 2016-09-02 at 1.15.58 PMFor the Titanic Foundation, having an exact replica of the “ship of dreams” bathrooms has been extremely important because they help millions of people get an accurate idea of what life was like on board, especially for first and second-class passengers.

For Bathco, I believe they should be proud of being the first, and the only ones in the world to make it possible for anyone who wishes to have the original replica of the Titanic sinks in their home. For any company, this represents a historic milestone, and I am very happy that it is a Spanish company that is carrying it out.
