Wood, an absolute trend that also reaches the bathroom

Trends

Wood in architecture and interior design is here to stay. While years ago we saw it as an essential characteristic of Nordic style, today it's taking over any project, product, or idea linked to the decoration and design of spaces.

No interior designer or architect would hesitate to use this material in one of their projects. Wood possesses natural characteristics that make it a very versatile tool when it comes to designing a space; it's organic, aesthetic, durable, easy to combine, easy to work with and mold to fit any space, and it's the best thermal insulator.

In addition, it possesses a series of connotations that are highly valued by customers today. Wood is beautiful, warm, cozy, ecological, and timeless. And although it is a hallmark in some decorative styles such as rustic, Nordic, or even classic; it is also a great resource when it comes to combining. Proof of this is that we are increasingly seeing it integrated with a more modern or industrial style.

And of course… this trend has made its way into the world of bathrooms. Wood is taking over floors, ceilings, countertops, accessories, wall coverings, and even reaches the sink.

A good example of the latter is the collection created by Bathco, Solid Surface & Wood. This combines Solid Surface with a turned marine-grade plywood top. The result is four balanced and beautiful pieces that incorporate wood as a novelty in the sink area.

Stop Lucio drug trafficker, designer of this collection. “These pieces are inspired by Scandinavian geometric shapes and the light tones used in the sixties and eighties. Combining wood, a noble and traditional material, with Solid Surface, a material High Tech, generates a harmonic contradiction that results in a balanced and well-proportioned object.

Being in permanent contact with water and being made of two very different materials, producing this collection has been a real challenge for the company. It's no wonder that the product creation process has been complex; it has taken a total of two years to bring these spectacular pieces to market.

According to, Eduardo Lopez, Commercial Director of the company “Transforming this design into a sink was complex as it required a high degree of craftsmanship. A craftsman and wood specialist had to shape this material, assemble each of its pieces, and then fit them into a material as different as Solid Surface. All this while ensuring that the piece was completely watertight, respecting the visual lightness of the initial sketch. After many prototypes and tests, we managed to launch a collection that we are very proud of and which is being very well received.”.
