Cevisama is, above all, a trade fair like any other, but in recent years the event has been incorporating numerous complementary events into its offering, something that will be further enhanced in its 2016 edition, which will be held February 1st to 5th in Valencia.

The event will bring together more than 700 brands of ceramics, glazes, machinery (as every even year), bathroom, and kitchen, which are more than enough incentives to ensure a significant flow of attendees. The simultaneous dates and venue with Hábitat Valencia (the furniture fair) and Fimma-Maderalia (flooring, doors, windows, and wood-related technology) will create a macro-fair that more professionals visit each year.

To this end, the organization of the event has added a comprehensive parallel program of activities, framed within the ‘Nos vemos en Valencia’ and "Cevisama Lab" cycles, which aim to provide more 'content' to the call. The aspiration is to achieve a greater quantity and quality of attendance by professionals in design, architecture, and interior design.

REHABILITATION CONGRESS Among the complementary events to next month's ceramics fair, the first Congress on Building Renovation: Conservation, Energy Efficiency, and Accessibility will stand out. The meeting will take place on February 3rd and 4th in the auditorium of Feria Valencia and will focus on the latest advances in the field of renovations. From a technical perspective, aspects such as current regulations and the different public aid that has been activated in recent months on this matter will be addressed.

In addition, practical examples of recent rehabilitations and unique projects will be addressed, showcasing how the sector is betting on this business avenue after the halt in new construction projects. Finally, it will also serve to reiterate the call for a housing renovation plan, a long-standing demand from the tile industry (and other habitat industries), which has not yet materialized into a clear and effective subsidy program.

KITCHEN SPACE, NEW EXHIBITION AREA WITH LEADING BRANDS // Cevisama is complemented this year with the launch of an additional exhibition area: Espacio Cocina, which will be located in the Pavilion 6 High Feria Valencia. The showcase will be a meeting point for architects, designers, interior designers, points of sale, and installers. Among the firms that will participate in this brand-new event, it is worth highlighting leading Italian companies such as Boffi, Schiffini, Zampieri, Record Cuccine, Rastelli, Binova, and Bugatti.

STRENGTHEN THE CONTRACT CHANNEL The International Contract Forum reaches its fourth edition and will promote over 350 working meetings between exhibitors and representatives of international hotel chains, as well as specifiers from countries such as Russia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, India, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, and Colombia.

ICEX ADVICE ON KEY MARKETS // ICEX has scheduled three ‘Coffee with Experts’ sessions focused on export. The meetings, which are open to exhibitors, will center on tiles in Russia and its sphere of influence, Data Centers (CPDs) as an opportunity to access British architects, and e-commerce in the German market. They will take place starting February 2nd in the Joaquín Rodrigo Hall.

LAST DAYS TO APPLY FOR THE ALFA AWARDS // Wednesday marks the deadline for submitting applications for the Alfa Awards, the accolades that recognize the best technological advancements in industry and will celebrate their 40th edition in February. The presentation of the awards, starting at 5:30 PM in the Joaquín Rodrigo hall, will be one of the highlights of the first day of the fair (February 1st).

CONFERENCE SERIES / The Architecture and Design Forum will feature presentations by Joan Rojeski Studio, interior designer Francesc Rifé, and architects Sheila O’Donnell and John Toumey. The lecture series will bring together specifiers on February 3rd, 4th, and 5th in the so-called Ágora nude.

FUTURISTIC PROTOTYPES IN TRANS/LANDMARKS // The Trans/hitos architecture and design exhibition will be one of the focal points of Cevisama. Under the slogan ‘Harmonies,’ it will showcase the ‘chameleon-like’ virtues of ceramic tile in its 600 m2 through various advanced projects, among which a 7-meter diameter geodesic dome, the ‘Paper House,’ created by the Mixuro studio, and a project from the Harvard University Design School, along with other futuristic prototypes, will stand out.

COMPETITIONS During Cevisama 2016, the best works submitted by students of fine arts, architecture, and engineering in the ceramic and bathroom design competitions within the Cevisama Lab cycle will be exhibited in the Foro Centro. Each of the contests, which has two different categories, will feature two prizes, each worth €2,000 and €1,000. The awards will be presented on the last day of the fair.

BEST PRACTICE PLACEMENT DISCLOSURE The Proalso Tilers' Meetup, organized by the Spanish association of tilers and pavers, will reach its 17th edition. The live demonstrations at the event will serve to promote best practices in ceramic tile installation. They will also showcase the latest in adhesives, profiles, and tools at their location in Hall 3, Level 2.
