La Plaza Porticada is the chosen location for the setup of a large tent, almost 1,000 square meters, which will house the grandest and most spectacular reconstruction of the Titanic ever seen in the world!!!

TogethThe Titanic Foundation and the Santander City Council, the Enrique Gran Foundation, Bathco, and the Fusodeba Foundation have made this event possible.

The world's largest Titanic, a spectacular 1:30 scale reconstruction, 12 meters long, will be on display at the macro exhibition Titanic The Reconstruction, from October 10th to November 12th in Santander.

The “launching” of the exhibition, which will be presided over by the Mayoress of the city, Gema Igual, as is traditional, will take place by breaking a bottle of champagne against the hull of the Titanic (in this case, it will be a bottle of Henri Abelé, the same brand of champagne that was served 105 years ago in the luxury restaurant Le Perisien, on the main deck of the “ship of dreams”).
The exhibition, which will be transported from Barcelona in five large trailers, will be set up inside a large tent in Santander's Plaza Porticada. The visit to the exhibition is made with the help of an individual sound system, in the language chosen by each visitor, and lasts an hour and a half, beginning with the viewing of a documentary produced by the Titanic Foundation.

On October 10th, at 12:00 PM, the tour and presentation will take place, presided over by the Mayor, exclusively for media and institutions. Afterwards, at 4:00 PM, the exhibition will open to the public.

Although the central focus of the exhibition is the masterful reproduction of the Titanic, the “original Titanic car,” a Brush D24, manufactured in Detroit (USA), should also be highlighted. Coincidentally, it was built in the same month and year as the “ship of dreams,” 1909, and is considered the world's oldest automobile that can still be driven.

Also noteworthy are two important objects that connect the city of Santander with the Titanic: the original painting “The Dream of the Titanic” by Enrique Gran (Santander 1928/1999), and the official replica of the first and second class bathrooms. These reproductions include: furniture, sinks, faucets, bathrobes, and towels. They were created by the Santander-based company, Bathco, and were officially presented in Santander in October 2015.

«The Solidarity Titanic»: “This is how the children of Cantabria paint the Titanic,” is an initiative of the Titanic Foundation, in collaboration with the Santander City Council, the Mensajeros de la Paz Foundation, Enrique Gran Foundation, the Fusodeba Foundation (an initiative driven by Bathco), and other public and private institutions, to promote childhood solidarity in order to help the most needy children in the Third World. This initiative will be launched during the Titanic's stay in Santander.
