Interior alterations to this two bedroom maisonette in the heart of Shoreditch included a comprehensive bespoke joinery package, with new fixtures, fittings and finishes throughout.

The studio Eckford Chong knew that the house is tall with a tight footprint and as such the rooms benefit from a consistent yet simple selection of just two main material finishes.

Upon entry, ash faced ply cabinetry in the kitchen compliments the hand crafted concrete worktops. White goods are integrated to establish a language of uncomplicated calm.

Bespoke shelving and storage made the best use of the living space, continuing the timber and neutral colour scheme. These two main entry level spaces were then tied together with a consistent singular oak parquet floor leading to a stair carpet, the colour of which was chosen to match the concrete of the kitchen.

In the bathroom, water jet cut concrete effect ceramic wall cladding and large format concrete grey ceramic tiles carried the established colourway to the upper floor. They have installed a Turin washbasin there.

In the bedrooms, cast concrete structural elements were revealed and celebrated by stripping back the finishes which completed a simple two tone, neutral language of timber and concrete.
